Chris D’Urso

5 & 6 String Bass Guitar and Upright:

Chris performed his first professional date as a 16 year-old in 1978 in Brooklyn, New York. Since that time he has played in a variety of musical situations that included extensive live performance experience in the New York City and Tri-State area, Florida and other parts of the United States. Along with being tuned into Jazz, Fusion, Progressive Rock, Rock, Funk, R&B and “World Music”, he committed to formal training both in bass performance and musical theory and structure. He studied with Studio Session Bassists Jeff Philips and Frank Di Angelo in New York City. As well, he attended the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music as a Music Theory and Composition Major. While completing college studies, Chris played the night club scene with several acts, most notably with the very successful “Off-The-Cuff”, an “eighties” focused band. During this time he maintained a relationship with POS, a group of musicians in a revolving door setting that were committed to progressive music and open forms of playing. While playing in numerous live acts during the late eighties and nineties, including jazz duo work with James Carella, Chris was a member of the New York Connection, a corporate and event orchestra that “played it all” including weddings, Country Clubs, Government and Corporate Sponsored Events. Chris rounded out his musical experiences in New York City as a Member of the Brooklyn Academy of Arts’ Ryan Repertory Company and a Member of the Harry Warren Theater Orchestra. He performed in numerous original and popular off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway theatrical productions. In Florida, Chris was a founding member of The Crashers, a well known Southwest Florida variety band that also served as the back-up band for the former lead singer of the Temptations’, Glenn Leonard, Hitsville Live Motown Review Show. He performed with The Crashers from 2004 through 2013.  Chris looks forward to a long and productive musical relationship with the other members of Storyline.
